About
The gallbladder stores and concentrates bile and releases it into the duodenum after fatty meals.
- 📍 Where it is
- Under the liver on the right side.
- 🧱 Structure
- Pear-shaped sac draining by the cystic duct, which joins the common hepatic duct to form the common bile duct.
- ⚙️ What it does
- Stores bile and squeezes it into the duodenum to help digest fats.
💡 Key facts
- Bile breaks fat into small droplets (emulsification).
- People can live without a gallbladder.
- Gallstones can block the ducts.
✗ The gallbladder makes bile
✓ The liver makes bile; the gallbladder stores it.
