Dual combustion cycle
Aim: Model the dual cycle used for modern high-speed diesels.
🧪 Live simulation🧊 Real-time 3D bench⚠ Simulated values, not physical measurements
🔬 Virtual lab

📘 Theory
Part of the heat is added at constant volume and part at constant pressure. The dual cycle lies between Otto and diesel and represents real engines better.
q_in = cv(T3 − T2) + cp(T4 − T3)
🧰 Apparatus (virtual)
- Engine model
- P–V indicator
📝 Procedure
🎤 Viva questions
Why is the dual cycle more realistic
Combustion in fast diesels starts rapidly then continues as fuel is injected.
What happens when rc = 1
It becomes the Otto cycle.
🛡️ Safety
Virtual by default. Machine shops, CNC, presses and test rigs need instructor supervision, PPE and machine-specific safety training.
