💬 Questions and answers
1What am I looking at?
Answer: A globe with lines of latitude and longitude, special lines and a movable location marker.
2What are its parts? (click a part to identify it)
Answer: Equator, Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, Prime Meridian, India's 82½° E meridian and the poles.
3How does it work?
Answer: Latitude measures how far north or south of the equator a place is; longitude measures east or west of Greenwich. Earth turns 15° every hour, so each 15° of longitude is one hour of time.
4Why is it important?
Answer: Every map, GPS and time zone uses this grid; it is basic to geography and navigation.
5What happens if I change something? (use the sliders)
Answer: Move the latitude and longitude sliders: the marker moves and the local time difference from GMT updates.
6What should I remember for the exam?
Answer: IST = GMT + 5:30 (82½° E ÷ 15 = 5.5 hours). The Tropic of Cancer passes through 8 Indian states. India lies between about 8°4′ N and 37°6′ N.
