Before you start: Reading short texts.
📖 Explanation
Literature includes stories (कहानी / కథ), poems (कविता / కవిత, పద్యం), plays, and folk forms like Burrakatha in Telugu or Ramlila in the Hindi belt.
Famous writers: Hindi — Premchand (stories of village life), Subhadra Kumari Chauhan (patriotic poems); Telugu — Vemana (short moral verses), Gurajada Apparao (social reform), Gidugu Ramamurthy (simple spoken Telugu in writing).
Reading for theme and moral, and noticing rhyme and rhythm, builds appreciation.
Vemana's verses end with the refrain 'విశ్వదాభిరామ వినురవేమ' and teach practical wisdom in just four lines.
✗ Literature means only very old and difficult books
✓ Literature includes modern children's stories, poems, comics and plays in simple language.
