VIS-029 · Handwashing, road safety, emergency response — Decision-based safe scenarios

🎯 Learning outcomes

  • Follow daily hygiene: bathing, brushing, handwashing, clean nails and clothes
  • Stay safe in the playground, on the road and at home
  • Know whom to approach for help in an emergency

Before you start: Knowing body parts.

📖 Explanation

Personal hygiene keeps germs away: bathe daily, brush teeth twice, wash hands with soap before eating and after the toilet, keep nails short and wear clean clothes and footwear.

Safety in play: wear proper shoes, drink water, do not push on slides or swings, and play in safe areas. Road safety: cross at zebra crossings, look right, left and right again, and hold an adult's hand.

In an emergency, tell a teacher, parent or trusted adult; remember emergency number 112 in India.

🇮🇳 Example from India

Schools across India celebrate Global Handwashing Day on 15 October, practising the steps of washing hands with soap.

✗ Water alone is enough to clean hands
✓ Soap is needed to remove germs effectively; rub for about 20 seconds.
