Two-step linear equations
A two-step equation undoes two operations in reverse order: first the adding or subtracting, then the multiplying or dividing.
3x + 4 = 19Two-step linear equations
📐 Formula
ax + b = c ⇒ x = (c − b)/a
✏️ Worked example
3x + 4 = 19: take 4 from both sides (3x = 15), then divide by 3: x = 5.
