📖 Explanation
Indian languages use scripts such as Devanagari (Hindi, Marathi, Sanskrit), Telugu, Tamil, Bengali and others. Most are written from left to right and organised into vowels (स्वर / అచ్చులు) and consonants (व्यंजन / హల్లులు).
In Devanagari, letters hang from a top line called the shirorekha (अ, क, म). In Telugu, letters are rounded with a 'head-mark' (తలకట్టు) on many letters (క, మ, ల).
Vowel signs (मात्रा / గుణింతాలు) join consonants to make syllables: क + ा = का; క + ా = కా. Correct stroke order and spacing make handwriting neat and easy to read.
Hindi words: कमल (lotus), घर (house). Telugu words: అమ్మ (mother), పాలు (milk).
✗ All Indian languages use the same script
✓ India has many scripts: Hindi uses Devanagari, Telugu uses its own script, Tamil uses Tamil script, and so on.
