🎯 Learning outcomes
- Explain the link between hygiene, nutrition, sleep and health
- Practise safety rules in sports, water and traffic
- Give simple first aid for cuts, bruises and nosebleeds and know when to get adult help
Before you start: Basic hygiene habits.
📖 Explanation
Health needs good hygiene, balanced food, clean water, enough sleep (9–11 hours for children) and exercise. Sports hygiene includes clean clothes and socks, showering after play and not sharing water bottles.
Safety: warm up, wear protective gear (helmets for cycling, pads for cricket), learn to swim only with trained supervision, follow traffic signals and wear seat belts.
First aid basics: wash small cuts with clean water and cover; press a cold pack on bruises; for a nosebleed, sit up, lean forward and pinch the soft part of the nose for 10 minutes. Always tell an adult.
Schools hold first-aid sessions with volunteers from organisations like the Indian Red Cross Society.
✗ During a nosebleed you should tilt your head back
✓ Lean forward so blood does not flow down the throat, and pinch the soft part of the nose.
