🎯 Learning outcomes
- Take part in active games that build stamina, strength and flexibility
- Notice body changes during exercise: faster breathing and heartbeat
- Warm up before and cool down after play
Before you start: Movement skills.
📖 Explanation
Active games make the body fit. Running games build stamina (heart and lungs), climbing and crawling build strength, and stretching games build flexibility.
During exercise we breathe faster, our heart beats faster and we feel warm; this is normal.
Warm up with gentle jogging and stretching before playing, and cool down with walking and slow stretches after, to prevent injury.
Traditional games like langdi (hopping chase), lagori (seven stones) and gilli-danda keep children active and fit.
✗ Sweating and a fast heartbeat during play mean something is wrong
✓ These are normal signs that the body is working hard; rest and drink water when needed.
🧪 Try this activity
Play lagori in teams, then put your hand on your chest to feel your heartbeat before and after.
