Speed calculation drill
Timed mental arithmetic: multiplication, addition and subtraction.
Tricks:
- Multiply by 5: multiply by 10, then halve.
- Multiply by 11 (two digits ab): a, a + b, b. Example 34 × 11 = 374.
- Square of a number ending in 5: n5² = n(n + 1) followed by 25. Example 35² = 1225.
