3 📖 Explain
A computer has parts that work as a team: the CPU (the brain that does the work), the monitor (shows pictures and words), the keyboard (types letters and numbers) and the mouse (points and clicks).
Speakers give sound and a printer puts our work on paper. All parts must be connected for the computer to work.
In a school computer lab, each desk has a monitor, keyboard and mouse connected to a CPU box under the table.
✗ The monitor is the computer.
✓ The monitor only shows the work; the CPU box is where the computer actually does the work.

Observation In the 3D scene, find the part that does the thinking work. What does it look like?
Show a suggested answer
The CPU: a tall box with a power button; the other parts connect to it.
Explain / create Explain to a friend how the keyboard, CPU and monitor work together when you type your name.
Show a suggested answer
The keyboard sends the letters to the CPU, the CPU works on them, and the monitor shows your name.
