3 📖 Explain
A clock has a short hand for hours and a long hand for minutes. When the long hand points to 12, it is "o'clock"; at 6 it is "half past"; at 3 it is "quarter past"; at 9 it is "quarter to".
There are 60 minutes in an hour and 24 hours in a day. Morning times are a.m. and afternoon and evening times are p.m.
A calendar shows days, weeks and months. A week has 7 days and a year has 12 months. Find a date in its box and look at the top of the column for the day.
The milk comes at 6:30 in the morning, school starts at 8:30 and the evening bus leaves at 5:00. Festivals like Sankranti and Diwali are marked on the calendar.
✗ At 4:30 the short hand points exactly at 4.
✓ At 4:30 the short hand is halfway between 4 and 5, because half the hour has passed.
