3 📖 Explain

Our national flag has three stripes: saffron at the top for courage, white in the middle for peace and truth, and green at the bottom for growth. In the centre is the navy-blue Ashoka Chakra with 24 spokes.

Our national symbols include the peacock (bird), tiger (animal), lotus (flower), mango (fruit), banyan (tree) and the national anthem "Jana Gana Mana". New Delhi is our capital.

🇮🇳 Example from India

On Independence Day (15 August) and Republic Day (26 January), the flag is hoisted in schools and people sing the national anthem standing still.

⚠️ Common mistake

✗ The flag can be hung any way up.
✓ Saffron must always be at the top; the flag is treated with respect and never touches the ground.
