3 📖 Explain
Food gives us energy to play and study, helps us grow and keeps us healthy. A balanced plate has grains (rice, roti), pulses (dal), vegetables, fruits and milk or curd.
We get food from plants (rice, fruits, vegetables) and animals (milk, eggs). Water comes from rain, rivers, lakes, wells and taps; we must drink clean water and never waste it.
A Telangana lunch of rice, dal, a vegetable curry and buttermilk, or a Punjabi meal of roti, rajma and salad, are both balanced.
✗ Water that looks clear is always safe to drink.
✓ Clear water can still have germs; boil or filter it before drinking.

5 🏡 Real-life task
Try this at home or at school, then check the suggested answer.
Scenario Your friend wants only chips and cola for lunch every day. What would you suggest and why?
Show a suggested answer
Suggest roti or rice with dal and vegetables, a fruit and water: they give energy and help the body grow; chips and cola every day can harm teeth and health.
Draw your lunch plate and colour each food group differently. Find one tap at home or school that drips, and tell an adult to fix it.

Observation In the 3D scene, sort the foods: which come from plants and which from animals?
Show a suggested answer
Apple, banana, carrot and roti come from plants; milk and eggs come from animals.
