This topic comes from GayaGnan's Class 3 catalog. It is generic, not an official board syllabus: check your board's book for the exact chapter.

1 ✨ Spark

Why are houses in Kerala's backwaters, the snowy hills and the Rajasthan desert so different?

Think about this for a moment before you start.

2 🧊 3D Explore

Turn the scene, tap the objects and answer. Easy, Medium and Challenge are the three checkpoints.

3 📖 Explain

People build houses that suit the weather and the place: sloping roofs where it rains or snows a lot, thick mud walls where it is very hot, houseboats on water and stilt houses where floods come.

A pucca house is made of bricks and cement; a kutcha house of mud, straw and bamboo. At home and at school we stay safe by keeping floors dry, not playing with fire or switches, and following rules.

🇮🇳 Example from India

In Assam, houses stand on bamboo stilts above flood water; in Ladakh, thick stone walls keep out the cold; in Kerala, houseboats float on the backwaters.

⚠️ Common mistake

✗ Everyone in India lives in the same kind of house.
✓ Houses change with the weather, the land and the materials people have nearby.

5 🏡 Real-life task

Try this at home or at school, then check the suggested answer.

Scenario Your family is moving to a place with heavy rain. What kind of roof should your new house have and why?

Show a suggested answer

A sloping roof, so rainwater runs off quickly instead of collecting and leaking into the house.

🧪 Try this activity

Make a model house from a cardboard box or clay that suits your area's weather. Draw a safety map of your classroom: exits, the first-aid box and the water corner.

6 💭 Reflect

Think, then answer in your own words. Your notes stay on this device.

Observation In the 3D scene, look at the different houses. Which one suits a place where floods come?

Show a suggested answer

The house on stilts: its floor stays above the water when the river floods.

Explain / create Design a safe classroom poster with a friend and explain two rules.

Show a suggested answer

For example: "Walk, don't run in corridors" so no one falls, and "Keep bags under the desk" so no one trips.
